About

2008:

“Bad artists copy, good artists steal” Pablo Picasso said that. So if it’s good enough for him…
I didn’t “steal” the idea per se , more like “borrowed and adapted” it from Slinkachu. He’s a UK street artist (that’s some sort of modern phrase). I stumbled across his site - http://slinkachu.com/little-people – in 2008 and thought “Ooh, I could do that”

So I gave it a go.

After much experimenting, I got some good results. The first one I was really pleased with was “Go Away I’m Reading” and it’s probbaly still my favourite. it’s this one:

After that I started experimenting with food and other objects and it went from there. I started to offer my prints for sale on Etsy and Folksy with varying degrees of success. I’ve sold to people in the UK, Europe, America and Australia, so technically I am an “internationally selling artist.”

In 2008 I also started www.dan-jackson.com which was my own site with all my photography on it, not just the “little folk” series.

2009-2010

I did a few more photos and sold a few more. The got what writers call “writers block” and I call “not having any ideas at all.

2011

This year I decided that the “little folk” series of photos should not be called “little folk” any more and have their own space on the web under their own “brand.” So the name “Short Stories” came about and I registered the domain www.short-stori.es
I’ve started taking more photos and will be using this site to promote myself and hopefully sales of more prints.
